Since 2012, Australian rockers King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard have released 15 albums and other special editions. Probably no other band has released so many new LPs in recent years. In the course of the re-release of „The Rancid Rainwater Eco Mix“ edition on the occasion of the #loverecordstores campaign last year, the musicians also thought about the topic of sustainability.
Stu Mackenzie said: „In 2020, plastic is in our oceans, it’s in our soils, it’s in our bodies. The irony of making music that will be pressed on a giant plastic disc is not lost on me. It is a privilege and a responsibility to own this record or any other. Be thoughtful and be kind to Mother Nature. The covers were packaged in outer packaging made of recycled uncoated paper.
optimal media has produced eight records from 100% recycled coloured vinyl (Re-Vinyl) for the edition. The covers are made of 100% recycled and FSC-certified cardboard. All inserts, stickers and download cards are also made from 100% recycled, FSC-certified paper. Printing was done with vegetable oil-based inks.
The covers were packaged in outer packaging made of recycled uncoated paper and cellophane was not used. The issue was made climate neutral.
