Sustainable innovation: eVinyl

New product

Vinyl records without the use of fossil resources

For us, sustainability is an ongoing process. For years, we have been making targeted investments in modern technologies to gradually reduce energy consumption, material use and emissions across all areas of production. At the start of the year, we switched our production at the pressing plant, the full-service printing house,  as well as in distribution and warehouse logistics entirely to electricity from renewable energy sources.

Now, another significant milestone has been reached. Thanks to a new technological development in steam generation, vinyl record production can now take place entirely without the use of fossil fuels.

With eVinyl, we are the world’s first pressing plant to offer the possibility of manufacturing vinyl records without the use of natural gas or crude oil.

With eVinyl, both steam generation and the pressing process are based entirely on renewable energy. In addition, BioVinyl – a bio-based PVC material produced from recycled raw materials, such as cooking oil – is used, replacing fossil resources.

The result is a 72% reduction in the carbon footprint (PCF) compared to the global average for the production of vinyl records made from virgin vinyl (PVC). Transparency is a key component of this approach, which is why the energy balance and the PCF are independently verified.

This process preserves everything that defines vinyl records: uncompromising audio quality, proven durability and identical material properties.

eVinyl is the next logical step in technological innovation for a better environmental footprint – and for the sustainable future of the vinyl record.
