Bildnerisches Gestalten im Zyklus 2 und 3
hep Verlag AGExcellent teaching materials
The fact that teaching materials do not always have to follow the usual standards is impressively illustrated by hep Verlag AG’s Kunst & Bild. This work, specially developed for use in schools, provides comprehensive knowledge on the subject of visual design. It aims to develop pupils‘ design skills in a targeted way and equip them with the knowledge and skills they need to excel in a variety of subject areas.
Supplementary digital content is available to support teaching. This includes project-related overviews, which are easily accessible via the hep Verlag website.
With Art and Image, teachers are provided with pedagogically well thought-out and visually appealing teaching material. The design impresses with its clarity and quality – an assessment shared by the Worlddidac Association. Every year, it presents the Swissdidac Award to innovative educational products worldwide. In 2023, Kunst & Bild was also honoured with this award.
The teaching aid contains a total of 36 detailed lesson plans, which are clearly illustrated and tried and tested. The projects presented are based on Curriculum 21 and show concrete ways in which artistic skills can be specifically promoted in the classroom.
The book also sets new standards in terms of design: The Swiss hardcover has a high-quality and elegant appearance in a vibrant poppy red colour with a fine linen cover. The title and the lettering on the cover and spine are finished with metallic hot foil embossing.
On opening, the open thread stitching catches the eye – as do the two hand-glued pockets, each containing 18 flashcards. In terms of colour, the light grey tone of the endpapers and the pockets harmonise with the embossing on the book cover, while the blue of the thread stitching creates visual references to the headings in the content and the texts on the flashcards.
The result is an all-round harmonious book that is convincing in terms of both content and design – and has rightly won an award.
