earMusicoptimal media book in two versions
With more than 45 years of band history, the British band New Model Army (NMA) led by singer and guitarist Justin Sullivan can look back on a remarkable career. Known for their music, which combines elements of punk, post-punk, folk rock and alternative styles, they deliver critical, socially reflective lyrics and are renowned for their energetic live performances. In addition to 16 studio albums, they have also released a total of five live albums, including the current „Sinfonia“, which is no ordinary live album, but a complete orchestral reinterpretation of existing songs from the band’s history.
NMA’s goal was not only to juxtapose the band and orchestra, but to create a networked unity of band and orchestral sound, comparable to a joint 40-piece formation. This ambitious goal was realised through the orchestral arrangements of Shir-Ran Yinon and with the help of the Sinfonia Leipzig Orchestra under the baton of conductor Cornelius During, and was performed and recorded on 15 July 2022 at the Tempodrom in Berlin.
The arrangements go far beyond classic rock-orchestra combinations and inspire not only the trade press with their sophisticated dynamics and balance of instruments, but also with the intensity of this unity around Sullivan’s voice.

We produced „Sinfonia“ in two optimal media book versions, as a hardcover in CD/DVD format and in earBOOK format. The small-format version was produced as a thread-stitched book with 28 pages and three swinging pockets with grip holes for two CDs and one DVD. The covers of the both formats were finished with a scratch-resistant matt foil lamination, giving the colourful design on a black background a special effect.
The CDs contain the complete orchestral concert with 21 pieces of music, and the DVD contains the complete video recording of the concert.
The earBOOK version offers a total of 80 pages with numerous exclusive photos and content from the concert and the band. The U2 contains a black earBOOK insert with three holders for three CDs, while the U3 contains another insert for a DVD and a Blu-ray disc. The third CD contains bonus material with eight songs recorded at the legendary SO36 in Berlin – two days after the recording at the Tempodrom.
As the icing on the cake, the earBOOK comes with a certificate signed by the band.
The unique combination of orchestra and band on the CDs provides a special acoustic treat, while the DVD and Blu-ray Disc offer accompanying audiovisual documentation that, together with the content pages of the optimal media books, visually supports the context of the musical concept.
