Individually finished high-quality hardcover
Stylish, appealing and definitely recognisable – these and many other qualities characterise the wonderful books published by Callwey Verlag. The five categories of “Architecture”, “Cooking & Baking”, “Living”, “Lifestyle, Fashion & Travel” and “Gardening” form the thematic pillars of the publishing house, to which numerous works can be assigned. We present three books from two of these categories here – each as individually crafted as its content.
Bright and eye-catching like a neon sign, the hardcover “Eis” immediately attracts everyone’s attention. The book cover, covered with a scratch-resistant matt film, provides the perfect canvas for the colourful lines of the layout on the U1. These were finished with both a raised blind embossing and a partial glossy UV varnish. Thanks to the finishes, the bright neon tubes stand out even more clearly against the contrasting dark background and literally begin to glow. In addition to the title, the hardcover has other special features. The endpapers are shortened, which is a typical feature of books published by Callwey Verlag, and the recipe book for ice cream lovers is complemented by a ribbon in a delicate pink.

“Like A Virgin – The Mocktail Bible” is also a hardcover with a scratch-resistant matt laminate finish. The upside-down image of Madonna on the cover is highlighted with raised blind embossing, while the title lettering is finished with a glossy UV varnish. The shortened endpaper and the moss green ribbon, which perfectly matches the colour scheme of the book cover, round off this harmonious book about non-alcoholic cocktails.
Last but not least, a hardcover from the “Lifestyle, Fashion & Travel” category joins this presentation. “Südafrika Stil” was produced in the same format as the two recipe books and also features a scratch-resistant matt foil lamination. The image sections on the U1 of the book cover are blind embossed. This hardcover with a box spine and inlay has another special feature in terms of printing: in addition to the 4-colour printing, a special Pantone colour in red was used on the book cover, the content pages and the shortened endpaper.
Each of these three books takes the reader on a very individual journey – not only in terms of content, but also visually and haptically, thanks to the high-quality and varied production.
