Allan Edwall
Playground Music ScandinaviaElegant artist portrait as a hardcover with CDs
For our client Playground Music Scandinavia, we created an exclusive exhibition of works in the form of an optimal media book to mark the 100th birthday of the versatile Swedish artist Allan Edwall.
Allan Edwall was an actor, director, author and musician. He appeared in over 400 film, television and theatre productions, became known in Scandinavia primarily for his roles in the film adaptations of Astrid Lindgren’s stories, and gained international attention through his collaboration with Ingmar Bergman.
His musical work mainly comprises his own „visor“ (Swedish ballads) – poetic, narrative songs about everyday life, society and nature. As a profound, humorous and political songwriter with a strong folkloric influence, Edwall is still considered a unique interpreter of the Swedish music scene today.
„Alla Allans visor“ brings together his entire oeuvre in the form of a thread-stitched hardcover in portrait format. Its 124 pages contain numerous photos, song lyrics, background information and essays.
The high-quality printing of the book cover emphasises the portrait motif and, together with the headband and black disc holders on U2 and U3, forms the design framework. Three CDs with a total of 67 songs are integrated into the disc holders.
As an optimal media book, „Alla Allans visor“ is a sophisticated edition that offers long-time fans and new listeners alike a comprehensive overview of Allan Edwall’s musical oeuvre.
